2015 NHL Entry Draft Top Prospects: Final

2015 NHL Entry Draft: June 26 in Sunrise, Florida

Winnipeg Hockey Talk 2015 NHL Draft Rankings:

This is my list of Top 2015 NHL Entry Draft Prospects as of June 15, 2015

The 2015 draft is considered to be a fairly deep draft but the real draft starts at the third pick owned by the Arizona Coyotes.

With the exception of a couple of players not many in this draft class will be making the jump to the NHL in the 2015-16 season.  I didn’t do evaluations on all the Top 30 picks this year but instead tried to concentrate on the players I though would fall into the Winnipeg Jets range at pick #17 and pick #25.

Players I would like to see the Winnipeg Jets select if available are Nick Merkley, Evgeny Svechnikov, Jake DeBrusk, Oliver Kylington, and Anthony Beauvillier. There should be some interesting choices for the Jets and the above listed are just a couple of my favourites.

2015 Final Results: UPDATED

Twenty-four of my prospects were drafted in the “Top 30” but the biggest surprise for me was Nick Merkley dropping all the way to #30 and Oliver Kylington dropping to #60.  I must admit I didn’t see Jakub Zboril being drafted at #13 and Mitch Vande Sompel going at #82 either.  On the Winnipeg Hockey Talk Podcast 039 I called Anthony Beauvillier and Thomas Chabot to be potential surprises while my partners in crime on the podcast Darryl Manchulenko called Jake DeBrusk and George Bain called Travis Konecny as potential risers.  None of us saw Jack Roslovic in the first round.  All in all the first round was interesting with a few risers and and a few players dropping.

Listen to Podcast 040 on Monday, June 29 where Darryl Manchulenko, George Bain and myself discuss the draft and take a look at the upcoming July 1 “Free Agent Frenzy”.

Well, no matter what the initial or ultimate verdict of this year’s entry draft for the Jets is/will be, one thing that’s for sure: They did a lot better than the Canucks….HA…..HA…………HA!

Where is Michael D. Gillis now? It’s gonna take years for them to recover from his … his … …. words cannot describe what a mess he left.

Wish Dan Russell was still on the scene in Vcr. He spotted the fraud Gillis early into his (mis)management reign (of error).

Which brings me, tangentially, to: Cody Hodgson in Winnipeg? Perhaps a dish better served in a Random Thoughts post.
