Random Thoughts On The Winnipeg Jets: Feb. 9

Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —

Some random facts and things that crossed my mind this past week about the Winnipeg Jets and the National Hockey League.

1.  The Winnipeg Jets finished last week with a 1-1-2 record and four points!  Thoughts?

2.  After a rough stretch on the PK, the Winnipeg Jets went 2 for 3 vs Calgary, 6 for 6 vs Vancouver, 1 for 1 vs Chicago and 3 for 3 vs Colorado.

3.  It looks like the Winnipeg Jets kangaroo court probably inadvertently ran Evander Kane out-of-town!

4.  I’ve been wondering for a couple of weeks why nobody is talking about Michael Frolik not being re-signed yet ☛ ☛ HERE

5.  The Winnipeg Jets called up Patrice Cormier after placing Evander Kane on the IR but continue to ignore Carl Klingberg and Eric O’dell?

6.  I’m confused … after Kane’s track suit was thrown in the shower, did he say it was Buff or he was in the Buff?

7.  There are thousands upon thousands of varying opinions on the Evander Kane situation in Winnipeg and across the country and lots of them have some valid points and some are so out to lunch.  I guess it depends on whose camp you’re in.

8.  The popular belief is players on the IR cannot be traded.  This is false.  As long as the trading partner is aware of the injuries they can agree and sign off on a deal.

Should Jacob Trouba see more PP time?

9.  I’ve liked Dustin Byfuglien’s play on the blue-line but I also like his presence on the forward line too.

10.  I would like to see Jacob Trouba get more PP time.

11.  Chris Thorburn on the second unit PP … nuff said?

12.  How big is the Jets next home game?  BTW, it’s against Minnesota!  How many times have we heard that and home many more times will we hear that.  Every game is HUGE!

13.  Adam Pardy plays some pretty decent hockey in spurts.

14.  I don’t like Paul Postma sitting in the press box.  That’s all I got.  I don’t know where he fits in?

15.  The NHL Trade Deadline is only 22 days away!  Do you think the Winnipeg Jets will trade Evander Kane at the deadline or wait until the off-season?

16.  The Winnipeg Jets just went from winless in 6 to gaining points in 3 straight games.

If you have any thoughts on any of these comments or questions, please let me know.  I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.

  1. 1 – Glass half full or glass half empty? 50% of possible points? OK.
5 – O’Dell hasn’t played since Jan 3rd, appears he is still injured.
6 – Perhaps Buff was in the buff?
8 – I knew that, but noticed quite a few ppl did not on Twitter.
9 – I have come to the conclusion that I don’t care where Buff is playing as long as he is playing on our team.
13 – Agreed. Positive consistency would be nice.
15 – I’m feeling off season, but what do I know? That was a rhetorical question.
16 – WOOT! Step back from the ledge…

  2. 5. Maurice has a dislike for O’Dell or something. Can’t figure it out.
    11. WELP!
    15. Kane gets traded at the draft. That’s my gut feeling.

  3. Hard to figure what the Jets will “settle” for in trading Kane. We have to keep in mind that the only player that we have little control of is Frolik – keeping in mind that something has to happen very soon with him – either trade him or sign him. The intangibles are who will be playing for the Jets next fall when the season opens.. Petan, Morrisay, Ehlers and even Burmistrov and what do we need for Kane… draft plus prospect? Je ne sais pas! Perhaps it’s time to concentrate on extending Buff!

  4. Jets should run with Hutch until they lock up playoff spot, then rest him. As for Kane, get something now for him. Throw in Pavs and Tobi and get somthing decent to take a run at this thing. Look to Edmonton or Vancouver.
