Random Thoughts On The Winnipeg Jets: Nov. 24

Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —

These were a few of the things that rattled through my head this past week about the NHL and our Winnipeg Jets.

1.  The Winnipeg Jets were 1-2-0 this past week.  10 wins in 22 games.

2.  Congrats to Mathieu Perreault on his first goal of the season and his first as a Winnipeg Jet.

3.  I have never been a big fan of Ondrej Pavelec BUT I would like nothing more than for him to succeed and I find it ridiculous that his haters just sit back and wait/hope for him to fail so they can spew their venom.  Get a life losers!

4.  I wonder if Assistant Coach Pascal Vincent is starting to feel the heat because of the brutal PP he is in charge of?

5.  I really like how Michael Hutchinson handles the puck.  When he gets more playing time and his defencemen get used to it they will have so much more time to make plays.

6.  If you haven’t already, check out my “first quarter” Winnipeg Jets report cards posted at WHT and check out Scott Campbell’s too!

7.  I posted this question on Twitter last week … any thoughts?

8.  Why have the Jets played more games versus Eastern Conference teams than Western Conference teams in the first quarter of the season?

9.  Whatever happened to the quicker face-offs and centers being kicked out when his wingers encroach into the circle?

10.  With all the crap that goes on in a hockey game, whose idea was it to penalize a center-man moving the puck with his hand during the draw?  Talk about getting your priorities right competition committee.

If you have any thoughts on any of these comments or questions, please let me know.  I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.

Thanks, Mitch

Hey Mitch just some random thoughts from me. I know Chevaldayoff has been criticized for the way he is handling the Jets but I’m a believer in what him and Zinger are doing. I think they are emulating the Detroit method of draft and develop and not rushing young players, Detroit always has a competitive team. With the pipeline of young players in our system I believe we are in good shape.

Look at Buffalo. They unfortunately in my opinion have to play too many of their young players. Murray might change that and sending Reinhart back was a good move. In Atlanta I believe they made the same mistakes by playing Kane, Bogosian, and others instead of developing in the AHL.

I think with the way the Jets are organized I see good things going forward.

  2. Jets PP has been brutal since day 1 .
