Winnipeg Hockey Talk’s evaluations of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft top prospects continue today with our featured prospect Anthony DeAngelo

Offensive Buzzwords:

Anthony DeAngelo has big time offensive skill.  His puck skills and play-making ability are very good. DeAngelo posses excellent on-ice vision and he creates offensive scoring chances with his very good passing ability.  His shot is better than average and he gets it on net.  Like all offensive defencemen he loves to jump up into the rush.   He normally makes good decisions with the puck but can get into trouble trying to do too much.

Skating:  Anthony DeAngelo  is a very good skater with good quickness and mobility.

Defensive Buzzwords:  Anthony DeAngelo’s is a minus hockey player and his defensive game is a work in progress.  He needs to work on his physical game and defensive zone positioning.  This part of his game is going to be what keeps him out of the Top 15 and probably make him a late 1st round or early second round pick.

Prospect Analysis:  Right now Anthony DeAngelo is primarily an offensive player and if he can work on his two-way game he could be a surprise come draft time.  Right now I would project Anthony DeAngelo to be a 1st round pick in the 15 – 250 range.
