All The Usual Scouting Buzz Words Describe Aleksander Barkov

Barkov has outstanding hands, uses his size, very good at protecting the puck, he is a hard worker, competes along the boards and works hard to get to the front of the net.  Aleksander Barkov has a good wrist shot and excellent release.   Like Elias Lindholm he is more a play-maker than a scorer.  Like all play-making centers Barkov has excellent vision, passing skills and he is not afraid hang on to the puck for an extra second to make a play.

Barkov is not a great skater but is still considered slightly above average.  This is where he is a little different than the other top prospects but he makes up for this with good hockey sense and very good positional play.  Barkov is already well developed defensively and understands his responsibility’s as a center in his own end.

Barkov is probably the top prospect after the “Big Three”.  Aleksander Barkov should be a 1st line center within a couple years.   His game is very well rounded and he is capable of playing a solid two way game.  Barkov is projected to be a potential point-per-game player.  It looks like Aleksander Barkov is destined for the #4 pick.  I wonder in he likes “Country Music”?

Interesting to read up on these prospects. I feel like I am getting to know these guys pretty good before the draft.

Unless the Jets trade up to get him he’s probably going #4 …. unless the shoulder injury he has right now is serious enough to change his draft ranking.
