2014 NHL Entry Draft Top Prospects

Winnipeg Hockey Talk Top 30 2014 NHL Entry Draft Prospects —

2014 NHL Entry Draft: June 27 in Philadelphia

Winnipeg Hockey Talk 2014 NHL Draft Rankings:  *UPDATED June 30, 2014

I would like to acknowledge some of the other very good ranking websites like ISS, The Hockey Writers “Draft War Room”, Craig Button’s “Craig’s List”, NHL Central Scouting and TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Corey Pronman  and many more.  Some of these sites have a team of scouts while others base their rankings on a survey of NHL amateur scouts but they are all very good.

My list will be different by as many as 4 or 5 players because prospects from the USHL are hard for me to see play.  I will end up including them in a final ranking but it will be based solely on the WJC U18 tournament or an average consensus from other sources.

Right now Sonny Milano, Dylan Larkin, Jack Dougherty and Alex Tuch from the US National Development Team in the USHL look like solid middle to later first round selections.  Two other USHL players, Nick Schmaltz (Green Bay) and Josh Jacobs (Indiana)  look to be later first or early second round selections.

This is my list of Top 2014 NHL Entry Draft Prospects as of June 23, 2014

In a draft that is considered to be pretty wide open after the first 4-5 selections there is going to be a lot of good talent available well into the second round.  A lot of these players should and will eventually make to the NHL but will need to be developed in the minors.  With the exception of a couple players not many of this draft class will be making the jump to the NHL in the 2014-15 season.

  1. Thx Mitch, I am hoping Nick Ritchie is available at 9 pick for the Jets. He would look good in a Jets uniform.

I agree, he looks like a Western Conference type of player.

I was extremely happy with the Ehlers pick ….. I didn’t think he would be available at #9 … how many times have you heard a scout say that? PS: it’s in the manual!
