Andre Burakowsky played this past season in the Swedish Allsvenskan league for Malmo.  He was born in Austria while his father was playing pro hockey there but Andre Burakovsky was raised in Sweden and plays internationally for Sweden.

Burakowsky is an outstanding skater with the top end speed and acceleration.  He is very dangerous off the rush because he has the ability to skate at high speed while he is stick-handling. He can use his speed to go wide on defenders and cut to the net.  His speed also allows him to create space so he can shoot or to buy time to make a pass.

Burakowsky is highly skilled in the offensive zone with good passing skills, vision and hockey sense. He is very good at finding the quiet zones getting himself into good scoring areas.  Andre Burakowsky is a goal scorer with a very good one timer and an excellent wrist shot with a quick release.

Andre Burakowsky has the skill and potential to be a first line winger but he will have to work on his upper body strength and compete level if he wants to make it to the next level.  He has been criticized for inconsistent play when the games get a little more physical.  It is his inconsistency that will probably have him being drafted later than his skill set would indicate.  His rankings have been all over the map.  Look for him to be drafted in the 22-36 range.

My name is Mitch and like most Canadian kids I was introduced to hockey at a very young age and fell in love with the game. I have played, I have coached, I even scouted in WHL for 15 years. I spend half my time in Winnipeg, MB and the other half in San Tan Valley, AZ. I am a season ticket holder for The Winnipeg Jets and my wife and I attend The Phoenix Coyotes games. I am involved in 3 or 4 fantasy leagues, I enjoy hockey shows on radio or TV, TSN or SportsNet, ESPN or NBC Sports and Fox Sports Arizona. You get the picture, hockey is a big part of my life.
