The Wheat Kings have unveiled plans for their annual “Pink the Rink” night at Westman Communications Group Place when the Kootenay Ice pay a visit this Saturday, February 28th. Supported by 94.7 Star FM, 880 CKLQ and the Manitoba Government Employees Union, the Wheat Kings second “Pink the Rink” game will raise awareness about cancers affecting women and support the fight against all cancers in Manitoba.
During the game, Wheat King players will wear one-time only, brand new special edition jerseys in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Unlike last year’s pink jerseys, the primary colour of the 2015 sweater is black, with pink accents and trim. The main crest is based on the hockey club’s logo that was used between 1972-1981 and rebranded with the traditional pink ribbon. The team’s existing Crown logo meanwhile will serve as the jersey’s shoulder patches.
In addition to the special Wheat Kings’ logo, the jerseys will feature the names of season ticket holders, sponsors, friends and family, who have been lost to cancer.
