Brandon Wheat Kings News For The Week Of Jan. 6 – Jan. 12 –
The Brandon Wheat Kings continue a busy Western Hockey League homestand this week with three games, including two against an Eastern Division rival.
Fresh off Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 overtime win over the visiting Regina Pats, the Wheat Kings host the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday night before playing back to back games this weekend against the Prince Albert Raiders.
Brandon begins the week with a record of 21-16-4-0, good for 46 points and sole posession of fifth place in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. The Brandon Wheat Kings are currently one point up on both Regina and Kootenay and trail the fourth place Medicine Hat Tigers by three.
Meanwhile both of Brandon’s opponents this week will be looking to gain some ground on the Wheat Kings. While Red Deer is ninth in the conference and four points behind Brandon, the Raiders currently occupy the eighth and final playoff spot and sit just two behind the Wheats.
The Brandon Wheat Kings will close out this homestand on Friday, January 17th vs. Swift Current.
