Cross Lake Islanders And OCN Storm End 2018 On Winning Streak

KJHL Update:

Action in the Keystone Junior Hockey League wrapped up for the 2018 calendar year over the weekend with the top two teams continuing their winning ways.  OCN Storm took a pair of games against Norway House North Stars while Cross Lake Islanders made it five-straight wins with a sweep at Peguis Juniors.

The first place Storm (13-3-0-0) were on the road against the much improved North Stars last weekend taking all four points.  OCN won the opener 7-2 behind a 42-save effort by Keian Weseen.  Troy Head provided much of the offense netting the hat trick along with a pair of helpers.

In the second matchup, Norway House again outshot the visitors (57-53), but came up short on the scoring in a 5-4 loss.  CJ Thompson led all scorers with two goals and an assist.  Tyler McKay had a goal and two assists in a losing effort.

Defending league champion Peguis Juniors have had to deal with a short bench most of the season.  Roster additions have been slowly coming in, but the losses have come in the standings.  Cross Lake proved to be too much sweeping the two games winning 6-5 and 15-8.

Garrison Garrioch led the offense with nine points in two games, including six goals.  Justin Dorion had a seven-point effort in the Sunday game while Armando Evans hat-trick helped the Islanders win their fifth in-a-row.

The teams are now off for the holiday.  League action resumes on January 4.
