KJHL Update:
Three-time defending league champion Peguis Juniors waited quite some time for their home opener starting their season with a seven-game road trip.
Last weekend the team and their fans got a look at the past with a pregame ceremony honoring the league championship. The current edition then went on to sweep a pair from the visiting Norway House North Stars.
Despite playing with a short bench, Peguis had the 500 plus home crowd rocking early when Quinton Flett scored just eight seconds after the opening faceoff. His linemates, Ethan Daniels and Tyrome Spence-Bair assisted on the goal in the first of a huge offensive weekend for all three players.
Daniels and Spence-Bair would each score a pair while adding four assists in the game with saw the Juniors win 7-1. Quinton Flett finished with a hat trick and three helpers. Dray Flett stopped 29 of 30 shots to earn the victory in net for the Juniors.
Thank you to the over 500 fans who came out to the Peguis Juniors home opener last night! Same two teams today 2:30 PM at the Multiplex! #KJHL pic.twitter.com/KnY0Sz1ajf

The weekend finale was a different type of game with the North Stars fighting for their first win of the young season. Peguis would again score first on a powerplay goal from Evan Thickfoot. Daniels and Sundance Paul also found the back of the net in the opening frame which ended at 3-1.
Norway House would reverse that result in the second period scoring three goals, two by Tanner Poker, to see the game tied 4-4 at the second intermission.
Poker finished his hat trick midway through the third, but the Daniels, Flett, Spence-Bair trio took over combining for 10 points. Peguis would score five times to win 9-5.
