WHL All-Stars, Award Finalists Announced

The Brandon Wheat Kings were well represented today as the Western Hockey League announced the Eastern and Western Conference all-star teams and 2015 WHL Awards finalists at a media conference in Calgary.

While Owner, General Manager and Head Coach Kelly McCrimmon is a finalist for Executive of the Year, three others including two first year players are up for major awards.

Russian blueliner Ivan Provorov has been named a Finalist for Top Defenceman, 16-year old Nolan Patrick is up for the Rookie of the Year and Captain Peter Quenneville is one of two nominated for the League’s Most Sportsmanlike Player honours.

Provorov is one of two Wheat Kings named to the Eastern Conference First All Star Team, joining club Most Valuable Player Tim McGauley. Netminder Jordan Papirny meanwhile was chosen to the Second Team.

The winners of these awards along with the WHL Player of the Year will be announced at the 2015 WHL Awards in Calgary on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
