protects the puck extremely well once he has it … is a monster along the walls and in the corners … wins a lot of battles for loose pucks due to his size, strength and absolute rock-solid body positioning

spent time at RW, LW and even at C on the penalty kill while being the ultimate plug-and-play player in the Thunderbirds top 9 forward group at even strength … while being a PK staple he was also a regular contributor on the powerplay

his skating isn’t great but has shown massive signs of improvement in the past calendar year … owns a powerful driving stride although his feet remain a tad heavy in acceleration … top speed is good and overall skating mechanics are fine

Keegan Kolesar was selected by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the 1st round, 20th overall in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft after a solid 2011-12 season with the Winnipeg Hawks Bantam AAA team where he scored 22 goals, 11 assists for 33 points in 27 games along with 84 penalty minutes.

In 2012-13, the season after being drafted he played one season in the AAA Manitoba Midget Hockey League for the Winnipeg Thrashers where he tallied 21 goals, 17 assists for 38 points along with 26 penalty minutes in 41 games.
