Offence
Chris Bigras is a smart player that plays a solid positional game. Bigras is a good puck handler that see’s the ice very well and makes great passes on the breakout and on the powerplay. He rarely leads the rush but will jump into the play as a trailer. He has a decent shot and has the ability to keep it low and on target.
Defence
Bigras is very solid in the defensive zone using his strong positioning and hockey sense. He maintains good gap control and is rarely beaten in one on one situations. At 6’1 and 186 lbs Bigras holds his own in the grinding areas along boards in front of the net. He plays the man effectively but he will need to work on adding more upper body strength to compete with the pros.
Skating
Chris Bigras would be considered a good skater with better than average speed and acceleration.
Projection
Chris Bigras doesn’t have the top end offensive talent as some of the other defenceman that are in his draft range but he does have a more complete game in all three zones. He is a solid two-way player that is effective in all situations. Bigras projects as a second pair defenceman that can play in all situations including PK and second unit PP. Complete players like Chris Bigras are coveted by NHL teams and I could see him being drafted early in the second round in the 31- 36 range.
