Eric Comrie played this past season in the WHL for the Tri-City Americans.   Comrie was born in Newport Beach, California, but he has dual citizenship and made the decision play for Team Canada internationally.

He played for Team Alberta at the 2012 Under 17 Hockey Challenge.  He also played for Team Canada’s Gold Medal winning team at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Tournament sharing the net with the Memorial Cup winning goalie Zach Furcale.

Eric Comrie has decent size, good fundamentals and very good lateral movement.  He would probably be characterized as a hybrid goaltender.  Like all of the new-age goalies he does a good job of taking away the bottom of the net.  He has a quick glove hand that helps him to cover the top part of net.

Comrie comes out of his net and plays his angles very well.  He needs to work a little on his rebound control but he is quick and has the ability to get square up to shooters after giving up a rebound.

Projection

Eric Comrie has starting goalie potential in the NHL. Like 90% of goalie prospects he will need time at the AHL.  Most scouts have him rated as a second round pick that has a chance to sneak into the first round.  I see him being drafted in the 34-40 range.
