Shea Theodore played this past season in the WHL for the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Skating
Theodore’s skating is at an elite level. He has excellent speed and acceleration that allows him to lead the rush or to jump into the play and join the rush. His great mobility and agility allow him to cover a lot of ice quite effortlessly.
Offence
Shea Theodore is excelling on the offensive side of the game because of his skating ability but he is also very poised with the puck. He see’s the ice very well, makes good passes and because of his puck-handling ability is a very good play-maker. Theodore has an excellent slap shot and one timer that is very effective on the PP.
Defence
Theodore has good size at 6’3 but he needs to learn how to use it more effectively in his own end of the rink. He needs to improve his strength to be able to clear the front of the net and win more puck battles in the corners.
Shea Theodore is projected right now as a top 4 powerplay contributor with very good offensive potential at the NHL level. He will need to work on bulking up and improving his strength which in turn should lead to better defensive play. Based solely on his offensive upside he could be a late 1st round selection but will probably end up being drafted early in the 2nd round. Look for him to go in the 28-36 range.
