Offensive Buzzwords
David Pastrnak has all the required high end skill. He can skate, pass the puck, shoot and finish. He has an explosiveness and shifty elusiveness that make him very dangerous on the attack.
Skating
He is a good skater with very good agility blessed with high end speed and acceleration. David Pastrnak would be considered a better than average skater.
Defensive Buzzwords
Like a lot of younger players David Pastrnak’s defensive game isn’t his strongest suit and it will have to improve to reach the next level.
Prospect Analysis
David Pastrnak has the skillset to be a Top 6 forward at the NHL level but will need to work on his defensive game. At 6′ and 165 pounds he will need to bulk up a bit if he wants to adapt to the NHL style of hockey. Playing in the Allsvenskan ( Div 2 Swedish pro league) against bigger and older players will help make his transition to pro hockey a little easier. David Pastrnak should be a middle to late first round selection. I think he could be a pleasant surprise to some NHL team in 2-3 years. Definitely a player to keep an eye on.
