Winnipeg Hockey Talk’s evaluations of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft top prospects continue today with our featured prospect  Haydn Fleury.

Offensive Buzzwords:

Haydn Fleury is a decent puck handler that makes a good first pass on the breakout and he is also very comfortable carrying the puck out of his zone.  Fleury has a good shot from the point with an average release.

Skating:

Haydn Fleury is a very good skater with good speed and excellent  footwork.  His better than average skating ability allows him to keep a very tight gap between him and on-rushing forwards creating turnovers and making zone entry very difficult.

Defensive Buzzwords:

Fleury plays a physical game and is strong along the boards and in front of his net.   He also competes very hard using his size and speed making him very difficult to play against.

Prospect Analysis:

Haydn Fleury is a big, physical blueliner with developing offensive ability and has the tools to be a top NHL defenceman one day.  Right now he projects as a potential top 4 NHL defenseman.  He should be a first round selection.  The question is where in the first round? 10-15 ???
