Jared McCann was selected fourth overall in the first round of the 2012 OHL Priority Selection Draft by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Jared has represented Canada at the U17 and U18 level.
Offensive Buzzwords: Jared McCann has excellent on ice vision, he is a good skater and has a very good wrist shot with a pro release. He had a very good rookie season and should be one of the Greyhounds go-to players in 2013-14. Like most elite level players he has good hockey sense with a high “Hockey IQ.”
Skating: Jared McCann is a good skater with very good acceleration. In his rookie season he often surprised and beat opposing defencemen with his terrific bursts of speed.
Defensive Buzzwords: Jared McCann doesn’t shy away from the heavy game and will battle in the tough areas at both ends of the ice. McCann is solid in his own end and like all good two-way centers he works hard down low moving the puck and play up ice quickly. Jared is better than average in the face-off circle winning the majority of face-offs he takes.
