Blake Wheeler and Connor Hellebuyck Named “All-Stars” –
Winnipeg Jets’ forward Blake Wheeler and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck have been selected to participate in the 2018 NHL All-Star Game at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay on Jan. 27-28, 2018.
Blake Wheeler: G: 14 A: 38 Pts: 52
The thirty-one-year-old Blake Wheeler is playing in his 10th season in the NHL and his eighth with Atl/Wpg franchise. The Minnesota native is having a career year and is tied for second in NHL scoring with fifty-two points and tied for second in assists with thirty-eight. Wheeler is currently on a seven-game point streak with five goals and six assists. This will be Wheeler’s first NHL All-Star Game but he did play in the 2009 NHL’s YoungStars Game where he was named the game’s MVP.
Conner Hellebuyck: W: 23 L: 4 OTL/SOL: 6 GAA: 2.36 SV%: .923
Twenty-four-year-old Michigan native, Connor Hellebuyck, is in his third season in the NHL, all with Winnipeg the Jets franchise. He is currently third in the NHL with twenty-three wins and tied for fourth in shutouts with three. Helle is second in the NHL with a .788 winning percentage, seventh in the league with a 2.36 goals-against average and tenth in league with a .923 save percentage and has an incredible 16-1-1 record at Bell Mts Place. This will be Connor Hellebuyck’s first NHL All-Star Game appearance.
It’s nice to see Winnipeg Jets players getting some national recognition and Blake Wheeler and Connor Hellebuyck definitely earned it.
