Brandon Wheat Kings Weekly: Jan. 19

Brandon Wheat Kings this week –

Great news from the Western Hockey League head office Monday afternoon as veteran Brandon Wheat Kings center Tim McGauley has been chosen the Denny’s Player of the Week.

McGauley notched six points (2g-4a), while posting an impressive plus-seven rating in three games over the past week, leading the Wheat Kings to three straight victories in that span.

On Tuesday, January 13th, McGauley was held pointless as Brandon defeated the host Edmonton Oil Kings 2-1.  On Friday, January 16th, McGauley had a four-point night (2g-2a) and finished the game with a plus-five rating while claiming first star honours in an 8-5 triumph over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes. McGauley finished the week by chipping in with two helpers in a 5-3 win over the Broncos in Swift Current on Saturday.

A 19-year-old from Wilcox, SK, McGauley has tallied 56 points (27g-29a) along with a plus-17 rating in 46 games this season.  He currently is tied for sixth place in league scoring and his 27 goals are also tied for fifth overall in the WHL.  The 6’0”, 185 lb forward is in his third WHL campaign. Originally a first round pick, 20th overall, of the Saskatoon Blades in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, McGauley has amassed 161 points (65g-96a) in 199 career regular season contests.
