Winnipeg Blues Weekend Update For Nov.4

Winnipeg Blues Make It A Three-for-Three Weekend November 4, 2013

After Friday and Saturday nights victories the Blues looked to make it a three win weekend Sunday versus the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Blues-PistonsThe Blues came out strong in the first but couldn’t beat the Swan Valley goaltender, directing 11 shots his way.  The Stampeders had better luck as even though they only tested Spriggs five times in the first, they were able to take a 1-0 lead on the powerplay with four and a half minutes left.

Callis replied for the Blues just over six minutes into the second to tie it up at one.  Spriggs was tested often in the second including a penalty shot with three minutes left but he saved that as well and it remained tied at one after two entertaining periods of hockey.

The third saw the Blues take the lead on Skrumeda’s first as a Blue as his shot made it through the crowd and past the Stampeder goaltender who a couple minutes prior had replaced their starter due to injury.  The Blues and Spriggs would hold the fort as Callis’ empty netter with :38 remaining would seal a 3-1 Blues victory.  Overall a very good weekend…three wins, 17 goals for and only four against, and outshooting the opposition by over 50 shots (119 vs. 67).
