Brandon Wheat Kings This Week — Feb 24

Brandon Wheat Kings This Week — Feb 24 —

The Brandon Wheat Kings will be hoping to put back to back wins together Wednesday night when they take on the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes at Westman Place.

The Wheat Kings snapped an 8-game winless streak on Saturday with a 7-4 victory over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.  Brandon scored five second period goals – three by second year center Tim McGauley – en route to their first win in fifteen days.

Captain Ryan Pulock added a goal and three points for the Wheat Kings, who improved to 29-26-6-2 on the season, which leaves them sitting all alone in seventh place in the Western Hockey League’s Eastern Conference.  Brandon is currently two points behind sixth place Swift Current and just four up on both Prince Albert and Red Deer, with the Raiders still enjoying a game in hand.

Pulock’s goal on Saturday was his 20th of the season and 61st of his WHL career, which ties him with former all star Brad McCrimmon for the franchise lead for Most Goals by a Defenceman.  He also became only the fifth Brandon blueliner to reach the 200-point plateau in his career, joining McCrimmon, Cam Plante, Justin Kurtz and Burke Henry.
