Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind —
Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the Winnipeg Jets, the Manitoba Moose, and the National Hockey League.
1. Duncan Keith is not going to be able to play in next month’s World Cup of Hockey because his injured right knee (last season) needs more time to heal. Team Canada’s brass has named Jay Bouwmeester to the roster as his replacement and I can’t help wonder how far down Canada’s depth chart P.K. Subban is?
2. ICYMI, the Manitoba Moose released their 2016-17 schedule >>>> HERE
3. Listening to the radio and reading on twitter about what the Winnipeg Jets “goal song” should be next season has actually made my head hurt. LOL
4. This says it all. Let the speculation and rumors begin …. like they haven’t already!
Lack of news in contract talks between Jacob Trouba and #nhljets making for speculation. Little in hard facts out there. Lots of guessing

I’ll start. I think Jacob Trouba wants to be traded and I think he wants to be traded to either Buffalo or Detroit.
5. Is this the season we start to see the Chicago Blackhawks slip in the standings? I think so.
6. I’ve mentioned this before but I feel it needs to be talked about again … I don’t see how Jacob Trouba can participate in the World Cup of Hockey without an NHL contract. How much insurance do you get? How do you determine a worth? Insurance or not, I think it’s too big of a risk.
7. If New Jersey was able to acquire Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson, I would think the Winnipeg Jets could get a pretty nice player for Jacob Trouba.
8. If and when Jacob Trouba finally signs his contract with the Winnipeg Jets and claims that Winnipeg was his first choice and he didn’t want to play anywhere else, please remember that hockey is a business and ALL these “signing” press conferences are scripted right out of the “awww shucks” handbook. I don’t believe a word of it.
9. Countdown to the 2016 World Cup of Hockey: 20 days (Sept. 17) in Toronto, Ont. The final rosters of 20 skaters and 3 goalies are posted here >>> Rosters
10. Countdown to the 2016 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic: 56 days (Oct. 23) in Winnipeg, MB.
