Horvat vs Domi

The consistent play of Bo Horvat during the course of this season has seen his stock slowly rising up the draft ranks.  Horvat and Max Domi have been the focus for top London Knight forward to be drafted.

Domi’s high-end offensive skills and tenacity allowed him to gradually pull away from Horvat during the regular season but Horvat has made it a three horse race for top London Knight prospect.

Both Nikita Zadorov and Bo Horvath had steadily climbed into the conversation with strong regular season finishes and strong playoff performances.  The Memorial Cup was be the final report card for all three Knight prospects and they all played very well, not hurting their draft positions.

Most Scouts describe Horvat as a good two-way player with high end leadership qualities.  He is projected to be a top-six forward, probably a second line center.  One of Horvat’s biggest attributes is he is a reliable two-way player  with above average puck skills as well as being a good face-off man.

Skating

Bo Horvath is a better than average skater with good speed and acceleration.  He is very strong on his skates and that makes him tough to battle with in the corners and in front of the net.

Projection

Bo Horvat was ranked 15th among North American skaters in Central Scouting’s final rankings prior to the 2013 NHL Draft.  Horvath’s play during the OHL playoffs and the Memorial Cup has probably elevated him into a top 15 over-all draft position.  Look for Horvath to be drafted in the 10-14 range.

  1. I really really like Horvat. He seems like the type of character player the Jets covet. Would not mind seeing him drafted.

It wouldn’t break my heart either. There’s some good players in that #13 range. We should get a good one.
