Mirco Mueller played this past season in the WHL for the Everett Silvertips.
On Offensive
Mueller had a decent offensive season for the Silvertips. He see’s the ice very well and makes a good first pass on the breakout. He has a hard, low, accurate shot that is an asset on the PP. He is a good stick-handler with good play-making ability and combining that with his good skating he is able to lead or join the rush offensively.
Skating
Mueller is a smooth skating defenceman with very good mobility. His skating gives him the ability to cover a lot of ice defensively. His has the very important quick first step and very good acceleration but his top end speed is considered average for now.
On Defence
Mirco Mueller reads the play well and has good defensive positioning. He has good hockey sense, battles along the boards and uses his 6’4 frame to try and clear the front of the net.
Like most 18 years olds he will have to add some upper body strength to compete in the NHL. At 6’04″, Mueller has great size, but needs to bulk up his 185 lb frame. Mirco Mueller has the potential to be a solid top 4 defenceman who can kill penalties and contribute on the powerplay. He could be a late 1st round or early 2nd round pick. Look for him to be drafted in the 28-40 range.
