U of M Bisons To Host Quarter Final Series

 

U of M Bisons men’s hockey team clinch fourth place and will now host one of the two 2014 Canada West Quarter Final best-of-three series at Wayne Fleming Arena against Mount Royal from Feb. 21-23

 

Manitoba finished regular season with 12-12-4 record for 28 points

 

On the final day of the 2013-14 Canada West regular season, the Manitoba Bisons men’s hockey team (12-12-4) finished in fourth place in the Canada West regular season standings after a 2-0 shutout win over the UBC Thunderbirds (11-15-2) at home on Saturday, February 15.

By clinching fourth, the Bisons will now host one of the two 2014 Canada Quarter Final best-of-three playoff series at Wayne Fleming Arena against the Mount Royal Cougars from February 21-23.  

Earlier this regular season, Manitoba played Mount Royal four times and have a 3-1 record against the Cougars (On the road: W 1-0 on Oct. 18, 2013 and L 3-2 on Oct. 19, 2013; at home: W 5-2 on Jan. 10, 2014 and W 5-3 on Jan. 11, 2014). 

Mount Royal entered Canada West play in the 2012-13 season and makes their first post-season appearance this season. 

Last season in the conference playoffs, the Bisons swept Regina 2-0 at home in the quarterfinal best-of-three series and then lost 2-1 in semifinal best-of-three series at Saskatchewan.
