Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —
Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the Winnipeg Jets and the National Hockey League.
1. WELCOME TO THE WHITEOUT !!!!!!
2. Watching the Jets first two playoff games was very anti-climactic after weeks of sitting on pins and needles.
3. The Winnipeg Jets have started their first round playoff series 0-2 and now return home for games 3 and 4. Wasn’t it fun watching playoff hockey on TV and the Jets were actually on?
4. Would it be fair to say that the first 2 games of the series were won and lost by the special teams?
5. I don’t like the hit on Mathieu Perreault (see below) and I’m not going to apologize for being pissed off about it. WAKE UP NHL !!!
6. It looks like the Cinderella story for the Ottawa Senators is just about finished. They trail the Habs 3-0 in their first round series.
7. I didn’t like the game 2 winning goal by Jakob Silfverberg on Ondrej Pavelec. Those short side goals just can’t go in at the NHL level. AND, I don’t want to hear how well he played. He was very good BUT it still doesn’t excuse that goal.
8. Old time hockey players must cringe with embarrassment at the face-washes and pillow-fight scrums that are becoming an epidemic in the playoffs.
9. What do you think about the officiating in ALL the first round series or are you confused?
10. Is it just me or does anybody else take great pleasure in the Vancouver Canucks losing?
11. FYI: The Atlanta Thrasher/Winnipeg Jets franchise is looking for their first playoff win. Does it come tonight at the MTS Centre?
12. We are going to find out if the MTS Centre and the Whiteout are going to be the home-ice advantage the Jets and their fans are hoping for.
13. It’s time for the Jets best players to be their best players. Hello Captain!
14. Do you think former Manitoba Moose, Ryan Kesler will get a warm Winnipeg welcome Monday night?
15. When is the animosity going to crank up in this Jets vs Ducks series?
16. Is everybody pretty happy that the Edmonton Oilers won the Conner McDavid sweepstakes?
17. I found it extremely puzzling that Ben Chiarot sat out in favor of Adam Pardy in game 2 and I found it interesting that Adam Pardy sat in game 1. I’m not sure that either of these two were a problem.
18. PP update: The Jets PP in the series is 0-7. (0 goals)
19. PK update: The Jets PK in the series is 4-7. (3 goals)
20. GO JETS GO !!!!!!!!!!
