Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —
Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the Winnipeg Jets and the National Hockey League.
1. The Winnipeg Jets finished last week with a 1-1-0 record. Two out of a possible four points. Thoughts?
2. The Winnipeg Jets will be without Dustin Byfuglien for 2-4 weeks … awful timing.
3. Michael Hutchinson has now started 6 games in a row.
4. The 3-1 win versus Nashville saved a lot of broken ankles from fans jumping off the bandwagon!
5. The Winnipeg Jets were without Bryan Little versus Nashville. He is listed as day-to-day.
6. It looks like Paul Postma has completely fallen out of favor with Paul Maurice. He seems to be the last option now.
7. Toby Enstrom does a lot of good things for the Jets but he really struggles in front of the Jets net and in the corners because of his lack of size.
8. I still have the Jets sitting at DEFCON 3 because they are still holding down a wildcard spot.
9. I really like Drew Stafford’s game. He drives to the net, competes in the tough areas of the ice and seems to have very good hockey sense. He is a MUST re-sign!
10. The Nashville game really exposed the Jets need for a center-man that can win face-offs. The Preds owned the dot.
11. My pending UFA signing order:
A.) Drew Stafford and Michael Frolik
B.) Lee Stempniak
C.) Jiri Tlusty
12. Tyler Myers has now played 10 games with the Jets and has 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points. Did anybody see that happening?
13. I thought Adam Lowry looked okay between Ladd and Frolik versus the Preds.
14. PP update: The Jets PP dropped 5 spots this week and is sitting at 18th place at 18.0% overall.
15. PK update: The Jets PK dropped 2 places this week and is now sitting at 19th place running at 81.0% overall.
If you have any thoughts on any of these comments or questions, please let me know. I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.

I would agree with Stafford and Frolik, a little worried Frolik isn’t wrapped up already. I would put Tlusty ahead of Stempniak, but is it possible someone from our highly rated pool of prospects might take up those two roster spots next year?
Morrissey, Ehlers and Petan seem to be the players that most fans are talking about …. IMHO, I don’t think any of them are ready …. if I was forced to choice one it would be Petan … I bet that surprised you !!!!
So far I’m really happy with the new players. I agree totally with you about Stempniak. I have always liked him and along with Stafford, Tlusty it allows the Jet’s management to let the prospects develop and not be rushed. Myers has really surprised me. I never saw him play like he is presently in Buffalo.
The move has helped him and I watched Bogo play 30 minutes for Buffalo last night against the Leafs.
I read where some fans want to bring up Hellebuyck. In my humble opinion it would be a colossal
mistake. He’s just out of college and to throw him into a pressure cooker is insane. Maurice in my opinion is trying to light a fire under Pavelec and we will see if he can elevate his play and take number one back from Hutchinson.
