Random Thoughts On The Winnipeg Jets: Oct. 27

Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —

These were a few of the things that rattled through my head this past week about the NHL and our Winnipeg Jets.

1.  The Winnipeg Jets were 2-1 this past week.  I guess we’ll take it!  3-5 sure sounds better than 2-6 or 2-5-1 doesn’t it?

2.  Evander Kane began skating on Friday.  His return to the Winnipeg Jets line-up is getting closer and could be within 10-14 days?

3.  If the Jets can beat the NYI and NJD on the road this week, they can salvage their first 10 game segment with a 5-5 record.

4.  Would it be a stretch to say that the Jets were out-goal-tended in their game versus the Lightning?  Not at all!

5.  The Winnipeg Jets finally scored their first PPG of the season versus the Lightning on Friday night.

6.  The Winnipeg Jets are showing an incredible lack of finish early on in the season and they are making a lot of goaltenders look like Vezina Trophy candidates.

7.  Would Jets fans settle for 4 points on this upcoming 4 game road trip?  The over/under is set at 4.  What is your prediction?

8.  Mark Scheifele has played fairly well and created a lot of scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates but doesn’t have much to show for it on the score-sheet.  (see #6)

9.  On Friday night versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Scheifele/Perreault/Wheeler line were pretty dangerous the whole night and are starting to show some real chemistry BUT …… (see #6).

10.  Lowry/Buff/Thorburn ….. now that’s what they call playing a heavy game!

11.  Bryan Little is the only Jet that’s scoring.  They better find some goals on the 2nd and 3rd line or get unbelievable goaltending on this 4 game road trip or it could get ugly!

12.  I was right last week about Grant Clitsome and Matt Halischuk getting into the line-up to shake things up AND Clitsome was named the 3rd star versus Carolina.

13.  I’m starting to NOT notice Paul Postma as much and that’s a good thing.  He is quietly gaining a little confidence and playing well right now.

14.  Ondrej Pavelec was solid versus Carolina and Colorado and the Jets WIN.  Would if fair to say as Pav goes the Jets go?

15.  Ondrej Pavelec was less than spectacular (being kind) versus Tampa Bay and they LOSE! (see#14)
