JT Compher played this past season for the U.S. National Development Team.
Compher is a grinding agitating forward that works hard along the boards, battles in front of the net and goes into the tough areas of the ice to make a play. He has a decent skill-set that include good stick-handling, good passing and play-making ability. JT Compher has a good shot and quick release and is considered a goal-scorer.
Compher’s is not a great skater but he has decent speed and acceleration. He is very strong and has very good balance on his on his skates making him hard move off the puck.
JT Compher competes, works hard and plays a physical game in the defensive zone. Scouts say that the combination of his offensive skills and his defensive game remind them of Claude Lemieux.
Projection
Compher is projected as a late first round to early second round pick. With some hard work he could become a top 6 forward. I have seen him ranked as low as #17 but mostly in the 26-30 range. I see JT Compher going in the second round.
