The Winnipeg Jets and Paul Postma have avoided their salary arbitration hearing set for July 30th by agreeing to a new 2 year contract. The 6’3 195 lb defenceman received a modest raise in salary and a new two-year one-way contract.
The 24-year-old blue-liner, headed off his salary arbitration hearing by agreeing to a deal that will pay him $650,000 for the coming season, and $775,000 next season. Paul Postma’s new contract will carry a cap hit of $712,500 for the next two seasons according to Capgeek.com
Postma played last season on his first one-way deal, a $550,000 (pro-rated) contract for 2013.
Paul Postma played 27 games in the AHL to start the season recording 18 points for the St. John’s IceCaps. He added four goals and five assists for nine points in 34 games with the Winnipeg Jets once the NHL season started.
