Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —
Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the Winnipeg Jets and the National Hockey League.
1. The Winnipeg Jets had a 2-2-0 record this past week. Four out of a possible eight points. Thoughts?
2. I thought the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 loss to Chicago on Sunday night was a highly entertaining game and they deserved a better fate … BUT (see#5)
3. Congrats to Andrew Copp on signing his entry-level contract (ELC) with the Winnipeg Jets and joining the club for the stretch run. Because he is a 20-year-old, this will count as one year of his ELC.
4. This upcoming week could be agonizing for Jets fans with the team only playing two games (both at home) with lots of out-of-town scoreboard watching. I have a feeling there will be tons of Jets fans reserving their spot on “the ledge”.
5. IMHO, the Sunday game vs Chicago was the poorest effort of the season by the whole defence corp. (see#2)
6. Welcome back Mathieu Perreault!
7. IMO, Toby Enstrom is not a $5,750,000 a year defenceman. He just doesn’t bring enough to the table to earn that contract.
8. I still have the Jets sitting at DEFCON 3 because they are still holding down a wildcard spot.
9. The Jets need Bryan Little back ASAP!
10. Would it be fair to say that the Winnipeg Jets are in good hands on the right side of their blue-line?
11. I don’t think Mark Stuart is any better than Jay Harrison or Adam Pardy and I would like to see more of a rotation at that position.
12. As a matter of fact, I think I would take Paul Postma over all of our left defencemen. Except Toby. (see #10)
13. Coach Paul Maurice bucked the trend to start Hutch against the Blackhawks even though he is 3-0-1 versus them this season. Trust the “Daily Racing Forum” PoMo.
14. I would like to see the Jets have a healthy line-up for the remaining 6 games. They would undoubtedly be dressing the best line-up Winnipeg Jets 2.0 fans have seen since their arrival in “River City”. (see #6 and #9)
15. I wonder if Andrew Copp will see any ice-time in the Jets line-up in the next six games. (see #3)
16. Since January, 2015, the Jets are 14-4-2 at the MTS Centre.
17. PP update: The Jets PP improved 4 spots this week and is sitting in 11th place at 19.0% overall.
18. PK update: The Jets PK dropped 3 spots and is sitting in 15th place running at 81.6% overall.

We were lucky to have the Wild beat the Kings and Flames earlier in the week, but the Flames are hot and it’s still possible for the Kings to turn it on for their last few games. This 4 day break we’re about to see could turn our final four into must win games.
yes … these are fun but very stressful times
