Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —
Instead of being serious all the time and writing a commentary or an opinion piece we will jot down some random musings once a week. It might be a mix of serious, playful or maybe even a little sarcastic but it should be fun. If you have answers please let us know.
1. Every year there are surprise teams in the NHL that overachieve and underachieve. Start thinking.
2. Winnipeg Jets fans are saving $10 a month thanks to TSN3. (or are they?)
3. Who will be the “overachieving” surprise team in the Eastern Conference in 2014-15? (see question #1)
4. Who will be the Winnipeg Jets next “Captain” and WHEN?
5. Who will be the “underachieving” surprise team in the Eastern Conference in 2014-15? (see question #1)
6. My new Winnipeg Jets “Wait List” Number is ……………… 947. At least 5 more years of waiting, maybe more.
7. Who will be the “overachieving” surprise team in the Western Conference in 2014-15? (see question #1)
8. I predict Carl Klingberg plays more games for the Winnipeg Jets in 2014-15 than Eric O’Dell!
9. Who will be the “underachieving” surprise team in the Western Conference in 2014-15? (see question #1)
10. Does the NHL really think they are fooling us with their bogus, propped up standings? The loser point is a joke!
Now some of these questions are serious, some are just tongue in cheek and some are me just being a _________. (you fill in the blank)
If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know. I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.
Thanks, Mitch

Re: #10. I’ve never understood why the NHL doesn’t simply ape soccer and give 3 pts for a regulation win. That way every game has 3 pts on the line. Even better, there is even more incentive for teams to get the edge before O/T.
You’re preaching to the choir there Greg … LOL … check the articles I’ve written here on the 3 point standings.
#3. New York Islanders. I like what they have done this offseason.
#5. Montreal. I don’t trust Michel Therrien and if Price or Subban get hurt, they’re in trouble.
#7. Edmonton. They’re a longshot but I like the direction they’re heading.
#9. Colorado. They were somewhat lucky last season. Expect a drop.
I really agree with 7 and 9 …… do you remember a couple years ago when Edm came flying out of the gate and were at the top of the Western Conference?
