Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —
These were a few of the things that rattled through my head this past week about the NHL and our Winnipeg Jets.
1. The Winnipeg Jets were 2 – 0 -1 this past week. Five out of six points AND points in EIGHT straight games!
2. IF … and I mean IF the Jets can start scoring while continuing to play tighter defence this could be a very interesting season.
3. Congrats to Tobi Enstrom on his FIRST goal of the season vs Ottawa in a 2 – 1 shootout victory!
4. Congrats to Mathieu Perreault on notching the shootout winner vs Ottawa but he is still technically on the schnide!
5. Touch wood (as Mitch touches his head), I hope this Pav we are watching is the REAL Pav! Is he or isn’t he?
6. See what happens when you shoot Tobi! (see #3).
7. I like T. J. Galiardi but I’m not so sure he’s a good fit with his line-mates.
8. Lowry/Perreault/Byfuglien are spending a lot of time in the opponent’s end but not getting the results. I guess it’s better than being hemmed in you own end. Right?

9. Dear Gary …. I’m pleading with you … please … please take the shoot-out and put it back in the vault and never open the vault again …. did I say PLEASE?
10. I think Mark Scheifele must have learned how to get off to “slow starts” from his ex-coach who was the master of the “slow start” … ugh hum #10 … 1.0 !!! Just saying !!!
11. I’m officially declaring the Trouba/Stuart pairing as the Jets #3 defence pairing ….. mmmm I wonder why?

13. Enstrom has a pretty decent shot and I always wonder why he is reluctant to shoot? Do you wonder too? (see #3 and #6).

15. OK PoMo, you’ve proved your point. These guys can play when they want but stop screwing around and let’s get back in the hunt for Connor McDavid!

I think the Jets are for real but I also believe when they get hit by injuries it’ll be tough for them.
So with that said I believe they’ll be in the playoff hunt before the trade deadline. Now, do you think they offer someone like Buff and or Kane (does he still want out?) Stuart too? In a nice package To say Buffalo for this years first round pick? Just a thought. Or does Buffalo refuse all offers.
Buffalo refuses every possible offer …. that doesn’t mean they might not be tempted …. Buff & Ladd could be trade bait due to being UFA’a after next season.
Buffalo can’t pass up a franchise player, McDavid or Eichel. I agree with Mitch though, if the Jets aren’t in a position to make the playoffs, we have a lot of valuable pieces teams may give us good value for at the deadline. But boy I wish we could tank for a shot at McDavid. He is rolling along at a insane pace in the OHL right now lol
