Random Thoughts On The Winnipeg Jets: Nov. 3

Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —

These were a few of the things that rattled through my head this past week about the NHL and our Winnipeg Jets.

1.  The Winnipeg Jets were 3-0-1 this past week.  Seven out of eight points is terrific on any road trip and especially if your taking care of business at home! Now to work on that home record!

2.  The Winnipeg Jets are really struggling to score goals right now!  Why?

3.  Congrats to Michael Hutchinson on his FIRST NHL shutout versus the Chicago Blackhawks Sunday night!

4.  Have the Arizona Coyotes officially entered into the Connor McDavid/Jack Eichel Sweepstakes!

5.  The Winnipeg Jets PP is still a train wreck IMO!  Same 5 guys, same results!  Is it the players or the scheme?

6.  After 12 games, it’s time for Perreault to get on the scoreboard.

7.  The Jets 4th line has contributed ZERO so far this year.  The sad part is they aren’t very far behind the 2nd and 3rd line and isn’t that a little sad?

8.  Is a “Bad Buff” better on the Jets blue-line than an “average Stu”?  I think so!

9.  I said it last week and I’ll say it again that I’ve been impressed with Paul Postma’s foot speed and decision-making so far this season.  I’m starting to see why he was an AHL All-Star!

10.  When a player is struggling and getting deserved criticism (emphasis on deserved) on talk radio, media or social media, I really wish their”fans” would just stop making lame excuses for them.  It is really annoying.  These players are professionals.  It’s not a personal attack.  It’s an observation!

11.  Bryan Little is the most under-rated center in the Western Conference!

12.  I wrote an article this week about my line combos and D pairings called “My optimum Winnipeg Jets line-up” ☛ ☛ http://wp.me/p3ustw-5O2 … I’d love to see your’s but remember you can only use the players that Paul Maurice currently has available.

13.  Is it just me or would you like to see Mark Scheifele get a shot at the shootout?

14.  Wouldn’t it be nice to see the Winnipeg Jets get goaltending and scoring at the same time?

15.  Congrats to Michael Frolik who got off the schnide versus Chicago on Sunday night AND it was the GWG!.

If you have any thoughts on any of these comments or questions, please let me know.  I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.

Thanks, Mitch

  1. Jets need to get someone planted in front of the net more. Biggest problem not scoring goals is no goalie distractions and possible man in place to knock in a rebound or be a screen.

    • Mitch Kasprick says

I like the shooter or triggerman (Buff) being on the opposite side shooting from the face-off circle ala Stamkos or Ovechkin …. those shots from the top/middle point seldom get through.

  2. work the puck down low and crash the net until something goes in…puck or goalie. Time to get nasty in front of the net
