Random Thoughts On The Winnipeg Jets: Oct. 13

Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind over the weekend —

These were a few of the things that rattled through my head this past week about the NHL and our Winnipeg Jets.

1.  The Winnipeg Jets finish their 3 game road trip with a 1-2 record.  Any thoughts or concerns?

2.  It looks like face-offs and the powerplay are still a problem but the PK has been good.

3.  Is it possible for Evander Kane to catch a break?

4.  Jets vs Coyotes: Jets win but weren’t as good as 6-2 would indicate!

5.  Jets vs Sharks:  Sharks win but the Jets weren’t as bad as 3-0 would indicate!

6.  Starting Michael Hutchinson vs the Kings was the correct move whether they won or lost …. IMHO

7.  Jim Slater, Mark Scheifele & Mathieu Perreault have been pretty good in the face-off circle the first 3 games.

8.  Bryan Little has been very poor in the face-off circle the first 3 games. 35% … 37% … 39% … not good enough.

9.  I though Adam Lowry’s first 3 NHL regular season games were solid.  How about you?

10.  Jets vs Kings:  Slow start again and ran into another hot goalie! PK 3-3 PP 0-2

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I’m not too worried about the powerplay because they’re getting chances and playing in the other teams end most of the time, so the goals will come.

    The penalty killing is outstanding.

The Jets out played their opposition 5 out of the 9 periods, one against the Coyotes and 2 against San Jose and 2 against LA. And they come away with a 1-2 record. Sometimes that’s hockey. I still like the way they’re playing although I don’t want to see Wheeler fight anymore even though he stuck up for Scheifele. I also don’t want to get in Byfuglien’s way when he gets mad. He got a little out of control but that’s ok once in a while. Send that message to the league and hopefully everyone gets out of his way.

  2. Scheifele and trouba need to learn to stick some lumber in guys faces when they get too roughed up.
