Things about the Winnipeg Jets and the NHL that crossed my mind —
Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the Winnipeg Jets, the Manitoba Moose, and the National Hockey League.
1. It was nice to watch some hockey on tv this week but I sure didn’t miss all the BS that goes on after the whistles. I don’t know if I can handle seven months of face washes, beaking off, and guys that would never drop their gloves acting tough.
2. Does anybody know who finished tied for sixth place in NHL scoring last season? Maybe Torts should look it up and start giving that guy a little more ice time.
3. I’m not sure I like hockey play-by-play announcers being employed by the NHL team they cover.
4. Most anti-fighting groups like using international hockey as their argument for how hockey should be played. If you like scrums after every whistle, face washes, and cheap shots then who am I to argue? Intense rivalries will bring out bad blood in any type of hockey and I would rather see two guys drop their gloves and go at it mano a mano than the crap we saw in the first two Canada/USA pre-tournament games. That was disgraceful and gutless hockey.
5. The Winnipeg Jets will be participating again in the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC starting this upcoming Friday, Sept. 16.
TSN 1290 Radio will carry the three Jets games from the Young Stars Classic and you can also watch the games online live on www.winnipegjets.com

6. I dislike Justin Abdelkader’s weaselish (I think I just invented an adjective) brand of hockey so much I did everything in my power to dump him in my fantasy league this past weekend. How could I cheer for a jerk like that? If had Kesler, he would be gone too. I would have loved to see these two punks try to pull their crap in the 80’s and 90’s where the linesman didn’t jump into every altercation. As for the 70’s … forget about it.
7. If you didn’t catch the games, “Team North America” sure made “Team Europe” look old and slow. Mmm, that’s because they are old and slow but all kidding aside, the young guns looked really fast and skilled.
8. I have a warped sense of humour and too much time on my hands so I think of things like the Winnipeg Jets offering Ondrej Pavelec a contract extension sometime this season. I think it could be fun watching a large portion of Jets fans lose their minds.

It’s too bad Buff and Wheeler play for the USA because after watching the style of hockey Abdelkader Kesler and Oshie are playing I would like to see the Americans get stomped into the ground. But face washes and scrums after every whistle are soooo much better than fighting.
yes … soooo much better … we need to create a sarcasm font LOL
some of our guys weren’t exactly very honourable either … it’s an epidemic in the NHL BUT this is what GARY wanted.
