Wayne Gretzky’s Rookie Card Sells For $1.3 Million

The “Great One” continues to set records even long after his playing career is over.  His 1979 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky rookie card just sold for a record $1.3 million.  This is now the most expensive hockey card to have been sold and the first one to sell for over $1 million.  In my opinion, Gretzky is the GOAT, so this card selling for this price doesn’t surprise me.  Wayne Gretzky won eight consecutive MVP and a record total of nine that might not ever be broken.  He won 4 Stanley Cups while playing in Edmonton.

Wayne Gretzky played in the NHL for twenty years and set 61 NHL records and still holds 60 of them.  His records include 40 regular-season records, 15 playoff records and six all-star records.

I actually have this card but it has a bend in it.  I should go see if I can find and see what it is worth.
