The Winnipeg Jets 4th ten game segment –
How many points will it take for the Winnipeg Jets to secure a playoff berth?
A minimum of eleven points each segment gets you to eighty-eight points plus there is games eighty-one and eighty-two to get a couple extra points. This should put you in the eighty-eight to ninety-two point range and close to or in the playoffs.
- In 2013-14 the Dallas Starts needed 91 points to secure the last wildcard position.
- In 2014-15 the Calgary Flames needed 97 points to secure the last wildcard position.
- In 2015-16 the Minnesota Wild need 87 points to secure the last wildcard position.

Winnipeg Jets Segment 4
The Winnipeg Jets ended their fourth segment with a 5-5-0 record. So far the Jets haven’t been able to win more than five games in their first four ten game segments. I find this very hard to believe based on the talent this team has. If the Jets have any hope of playing in the post-season they are going to have to have a couple of segments with six or seven wins.
Segment four saw the Winnipeg Jets placing enigmatic Russian forward Alexander Burmistrov on waivers. He was immediately scooped up by the Arizona Coyotes. Good Luck to Burmi in the desert.
The good news:
- It’s a new year.
- Nikolaj Ehlers and Patrik Laine have been a joy to watch.
- The Jets are getting good play from their top two lines.
- Tyler Myers should be returning to the line-up sometime in segment five.
- The special teams and faceoff percentages were much improved in segment four.
The bad news:
- It’s pretty hard to play catch-up in the standings when you can’t put together a winning streak longer than two games.
- The goaltending is starting to stabilize and become a little more consistent but it is still a work in progress.
- The Jets need something from the third and fourth lines if they want to put together any type of winning streak.
- Marko Dano will be on the IR for a few weeks.
- This team cannot get that elusive third win in a row.
Playoffs? Playoffs?
- Same as in segment three, the Jets are having a hard time getting above the NHL’s bogus .500 mark.
- In spite of their Jekyll and Hyde performances this team still hanging around the fringe of the playoff race.

Just thought it was worthwhile mentioning…. watched the last couple of games and have to say that Wheeler has been leading by example… if the whole team could play the same game and with the same intensity as Wheeler does we would be playoff bound.. no doubt.
I thought Little and Wheeler were very good last night.
