Looking at Lemieux’s PIM’s makes me think that he may eventually become a top component of this trade. His old man was a nasty piece of work to everyone but his team mates who valued his agitation on the ice… especially when he wouldn’t back it up himself – too busy turtling.
Brendan Lemieux is a late bloomer that could surprise.
Here’s my two cents on the trade Mitch. To me Chevy got rid of two problems and got some interesting pieces coming back. We know Kane was a problem but he was a force on the ice in my opinion. I have heard rumours about Bogosian off ice behaviours and it’s a tricky business to say if they are true, but regardless I’m glad he’s gone. Right from training camp he looked not in shape to me. He was drafted as a top defenseman and hasn’t achieved that level, but maybe he will in Buffalo. He had a no movement clause coming into effect as well next season so who knows if he would have ok’d the deal if it happened next year.
Chevy made a nice move stockpiling the franchise and now has options going forward, something Atlanta didn’t have in the past, or if they did it didn’t work out. In the end it was a decent trade for both teams.
agreed Goerge, it was a good trade for both teams and could be a great trade for Winnipeg …. over-valuing or over-hyping prospects is dangerous but the future does look good.
I see where Chevy is getting kudos by the local sportswriters, Lawless for one. I’m impressed by how methodically he has strengthened the team. Cheveldayoff seems to following Ken Holland’s approach of drafting and developing his own players and not unduly rushing them. He is starting to be recognized as one of the smartest managers in the NHL and I couldn’t agree more!
With Heisinger in St. John’s and Chevy here we are indeed in good shape in my opinion.
The Jets draft & develop seems to be on course but I’m not even close to being ready to anoint him as one of the smartest GMs in the league …. he’s made a few birdies but also has a lot of bogies on his scorecard … although I like this trade.
Yeah I guess I got a little too excited and ahead of myself. I will wait and see how he handles the contracts of Frolik, Buyfuglien, and Ladd.
