Odds and Ends, Thoughts and Questions, from this past week in hockey –

Just so there’s no confusion when I’m spewing my bias, I am a fan of the Winnipeg Jets, Arizona Coyotes, Manitoba Moose, Winnipeg Ice, and all Team Canada Hockey teams.

I am NOT a fan of Gary Bettman or as I call him, Count Chocula.  I am a big believer in the 7Ps. You’ve been warned.

1. Jets:  The season is over for the Winnipeg Jets but Pierre-Luc Dubois and Adam Lowry with be reprersenting Team Canada at the 2022 Men’s World Hockey Championships.  Nate Schmidt will be joining Team USA and Nikolaj Ehlers will play for Team Denmark.  I love the IIHF WHC and having our Winnipeg Jets player involved just makes it a little more interesting.

The trophy is named in honour of the late Bill Masterton (born in Winnipeg), a Minnesota North Stars player who died on January 15, 1968, after sustaining an injury during a hockey game.

1. Jets:  The Winnipeg Jets played three games this past week going 1-2-0 giving them a record of 35-30-11.  They are 10 points out of a playoff position with six games left and are DONE LIKE DINNER.

This is embarrassing and unacceptable for a team that was considered a contender by almost every media outlet in Canada.

There is a lot more than one thing that needs to be addressed and there are tons of blame to go around from ownership, management, coaches, and right down to the players.

It is going to be a very critical and interesting off-season for this franchise. [Read more…]
