Dec. 14: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

The Winnipeg Jets had some good, bad, and ugly moments this week –

Each week, we will list some of the “Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” from the previous week in the land of the Winnipeg Jets and the Manitoba Moose.

The Good

The play of Mark Scheifele, Drew Stafford, and Mathieu Perreault.  They are going through a good stretch where they are pretty dangerous every night.  The down side is they don’t always get the results from their good play.

AND

The solid play of Tyler Myers and Toby Enstrom.  They have been very reliable in both ends of the rink.

The Bad

The Winnipeg Jets are almost halfway through this season and the Andrew Ladd/Dustin Byfuglien contract situations are still blowing in the wind.  I don’t know if it’s the fear of committing long-term to two thirty year olds, unreasonable contract demands from their camps, or if the Jets are waiting to see if they are going to be playoff contenders before they decide whether to trade or resign this pair but it’s time for Chevy to shit or get off the pot.

I have never bought into the notion that the lack of Ladd/Byfuglien contract talks is affecting the team but I must admit I’m actually starting to wonder a bit right now.

The Ugly

The Winnipeg Jets are going into their fifth season with Little, Ladd, Wheeler and Byfuglien on their powerplay and it’s not working.  It’s like beating your head against the wall.  The powerplay is slow, predictable, and lacks skill.  The only bright light has been the switch from Toby Enstrom to Mathieu Perreault.  How can a defenceman as dynamic as Dustin Byfuglien be the quarterback on one of the most unimaginative powerplays in the league?

AND

The amount of lazy stick penalties this team takes night after night.

You must quit beating around the bush, Mitch. (joke)

Just wanted to add that the Jets are only 5 points up on the WORST teams in the league! They must be better than that. Hence, as you have stated, they need a PP.

BTW, what happened to St. Nik…o….laj? Is he going to deliver any gifts for Xmas?

    Good luck, Jets.

  2. Maybe if they continue having Buff blast from the blue line on the PP, Thorburn might be an option in front of the net…. or.. we could try hitting the net when we shoot. I do like the 2nd line’s chance of scoring on the PP better than the first line.

Two guys probably asking for too much when considering their value.. and for 6 more years at that!
