With some unbelievable goaltending down the stretch by the much maligned Ondrej Pavelec, the Jets clinched their first playoff spot since their relocation to Winnipeg. After reaching an all-time low after “the goal” in St. Louis it looked like he might be done but he rattled off an impressive streak and wrestled away the starting job from Michael Hutchinson. The Winnipeg Jets blue-line was decimated by injuries in the second quarter of this season and somehow the replacements managed to keep it together. I can’t remember ANY NHL team having their top two pairings injured at the same time. The fact that the Jets kept winning in spite of this is a testament to their system and overall commitment to team defence.
