Winnipeg Jets 2018 NHL Entry Draft Selections –
The Winnipeg Jets made a total of six selections at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, picking three centres, two defencemen and a goalie. The Jets were without a 1st round pick (Paul Stastny trade) and did not have a selection in the fourth round. They had two fifth-round picks. Despite rumblings of a trade in the works, the Jets remained quiet and steady, adding depth to the prospect pool with this draft.
Winnipeg Jets’ forward Blake Wheeler and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck have been selected to participate in the 2018 NHL All-Star Game at Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay on Jan. 27-28, 2018.

Winnipeg Jets grades for the defencemen, goalies, special teams and coaches – The “new look” Winnipeg Jets blueline had a pretty decent first half of the season. The goaltending has been excellent and the Winnipeg Jets have a powerplay. The penalty killing has improved statistically but they play a passive system that is hard to watch and it’s even harder on the players. It really counts on a lot of sacrifice from the forwards who are expected to be human targets. The Jets are also at the top of the league in faceoffs. At the halfway point in the season, the Jets record is 23-11-7 and I think most Jets fans would take that. [Read more…]
Winnipeg Jets grades for the forwards – The first half of the regular season sees the Winnipeg Jets sitting in second place in the Central Division, one point behind (with two games in hand) the St. Louis Blues. The Jets have a record of 23-11-7 and are playing a pretty consistent, entertaining brand of hockey. They have finally made Bell MTS Place a tough building for visiting teams to play in and so far they are dominating on home ice with a record of 14-3-1. The Winnipeg Jets selected their second Finn of the 2017 NHL Draft in Santeri Virtanen with the 105th pick overall. Virtanen played last season with TPS U20 of the Junior A SM-liiga. He was ranked as high as #46 by McKeen’s Hockey. [Read more…]
